Motichoor laddu - Diwali sweet

Back at Chennai, my MIL  always prepares boondhi laddu and my baby used to gobble them up.  So, I asked myself why not try some?  But, apart from boondhi laddu, I liked motichoor laddu that hangs around every sweet shop.  Garnished with silver varq and opped with nuts, these are most delicious and one will definitely experience  melt in mouth moment.

Originally hailing from Central Bihar, Motichoor laddu (Moti means pearl) are nothing but deep-fried gramflour, mixed in sugar syrup, flavoured with saffron threads, rose water, nuts and shaped into laddu.  Though they look like boondhi laddu, the methodology differ because motichoor laddu are fried till they reach pale yellow/golden colour and is removed.  And after soaking in sugar syrup they are mixed with warm water and is blended once which is not the same with boondhi laddu.  Warm water, thus added aids in much softer texture to motichoor laddu comparing to later.

Yes, my daughter loved it and better half was completely impressed.  Apart from the fact that they turned successful, they consume lesser time too!!  About one batch can be done within an hour, isn't it an boon? :D  Follow the entire post for tips

Kalaan rasam - Mushrooms curried in south-Indian rasam style

Pumpkin flavoured bread - Baking partners challenge

When Swathi Iyer announced Baking partner's challenge as ' Baking with Pumpkins', I was thrilled because I hadn't used pumpkins in my Baking session.  And to double it up, three awesone recipes for bread was suggested.  I followed  Yeast version of pumpkin bread from Kingarthur, result was amazing!  My entire home was filled with fresh aroma of yeast-raised bread and we all luved it on ur breakfast time.  Thanks to Swathi Iyer and Tamy for suggesting the same.

Out of the oven, I felt very proud as I sliced my loaf with an hungry daughter by my side :)  She was the first one to taste this aromatic bread with an dollop of jam, she just loved it!!   I realized that these were super moist, yet heavy on our stomach compared to store-brought one.  So, let us move to recipe!

Orange flavoured cupcakes with double chocolate icing

I am an choco-aholic person.  I, also am choco-freak :) :)  well, most of my readers would be knowing that by now :)  :)  Even in my personal FB profile, I have an habit of updating all my chocolatey dishes to album, titled 'Chocolatey passion'  Any sweet dish, I start to make, I would imagine them  an chocolatey version  and only then proceed with regular version, such is my addiction........  :)  :) And yes, I had dreamt of doing cupcake with double chocolate icing, one day, forcefully drew myself one evening and ta-da!!!!

Since orange has an everyluving bond with chocolates, I prepared my cupcakes with an orange flavour.  And yes, these cupcake is an kiddie delight, party-time snack and an any-time temptation to all-ages.  Given all ingredients handy, these can be easily made within hour!!  Isn't it great??  Take all ingredients at vessel, whisk them, bake and cool,  simultaneously prepare the icing. No whipping up after adding each ingredients or no stiff peaks makes this preparation  ' an child's play'

Bisibela baath

Bisibela baath, a two-word recitation and that dates back to my school days where my mother used to prepare on every saturdays.  Served hot with ghee, these would literally melt in my mouth. This meal, as such is heavy on ur stomach and will mesmerize your mind wanting for more!!!!!!!   Back at home, found best time to prepare, that is on sunday when my hubby (who always requested to make some) was there to support   :P  :P

Bisibela baath, orginating from Karnataka cuisine lets out meaning like "Hot Lentil Rice" .  Here,  an array of vegetables (Brinjal, snakegourd, pumpkin, carrot, beans, drumstick etc) are cooked in dal tempered like sambhar style.  Cooked rice is mashed, added to the dal and masala comes at the end.  The much interesting part of cooking bisibela baath is its spice mix.  Since I luved my mom's, called her and got her ratios.  Tweaking a bit, I proceeded and yes !!!!!  Bisibela baath was very awesome, it got over by end of the meal!!  :)
